This is a typewritten manuscript of Dr. Robert Spencer Cotterill's HISTORY OF FLEMING COUNTY: THE FIRST ONE HUNDRED YEARS. The volume also includes substantial correspondence with Dr. Cotterill and his nephew, Arhtur Cotterill, concerning possible publication of the history. Apparently it has never been published.

Robert Spencer Cotterill, historian and educator, was born in Fleming County, Kentucky, in 1884, at the now forgotten village of Battle Run. Cotterill was one of the founding members of the Southern Historical Association and a member of the history department at the University of Louisville. In 1928, he joined the history department at the Florida State College of Women (now Florida State University).
